Jones Radiology has commenced two significant service enhancements at Wallaroo Hospital, bringing faster, higher-quality medical imaging to patients across the Yorke Peninsula.
A new state-of-the-art x-ray machine has been operational at Wallaroo Hospital from the beginning of May 2026. This upgraded equipment has been delivering clearer imaging and reduced scan times, supporting faster and more accurate diagnoses – and a more comfortable experience for patients.
Jones Radiology Chief Executive Officer, Ms Sarah Woon, said the investment reflects the practice’s ongoing commitment to regional communities.
“These upgrades strengthen diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of conditions with greater accuracy and efficiency,” she said. “The increased capacity is part of Jones’ commitment to servicing regional communities, ensuring faster, high-quality imaging is available closer to home.”
From 1 March 2026, Jones also extended CT service hours for emergency patients at Wallaroo Hospital to 10pm, seven days a week. Previously available only on weekdays between 8:30am and 5pm, the extended hours were introduced to support quicker clinical decisions and better patient outcomes.
Dr Stephen Bolsin, Acting Executive Director of Medical Services at Yorke and Northern Local Health Network, welcomed the change.
"These improvements are all about providing better care and health outcomes for our community," Dr Bolsin said. "Extended CT hours until 10pm, seven days a week, allow us to provide scanning for patients requiring trauma imaging or who may be experiencing a stroke."
Both initiatives respond directly to recommendations from the parliamentary inquiry into health services on Yorke Peninsula, released in September 2025, which highlighted the importance of expanded radiology availability for the region.
